Hi Dan:   I just wanted to thank you for all your advice and complimentary know-how over the years.  You speak my language & I always come away with a better understanding of what went wrong & how I can fix it!  You are always generous with the good tips & you never hesitate to let me back to the tech’s counter to see what you are doing & how you are doing it.   Most places are more than willing to take my money but rarely do they share the preventative tips ~  if they show me how to “fix it” there would likely be no need for me to return!  You won’t have to worry about that Dan.   As long as you continue to dispense the good advice;  share your expertise;  be patient  & keep your sense of humor, I will always return & bring others with me!

Hi Dan:   In November I attended your seminar on viruses/malware & want to thank you for making it fun & easy to understand.  There was a ton of information crammed into that 2 hours but now I definitely have a better comprehension as to how they can invade my computer & what I can do to hopefully keep them at bay ~ & with minimal costs involved!!  bonus.   It is a scary world out there in cyberspace & you have made it a little less spooky & a little more manageable.

I just want to say thanks for the informational seminar on viruses and malware.  It definitely gave me better insight to what is really happening.
The part on the evolution of malware and viruses, how they have changed over the years was really interesting.  If you run any more of these please call me!

Thanks again for all of your help with my computer. When I frantically brought my malfunctioning computer into your shop, your reassurance and patience were just what I needed. Because I don’t know a lot about computer viruses or problems that can occur, your calm, straightforward approach in diagnosing, explaining and repairing the damage definitely reduced my stress and helped me understand what had happened to my files.
By the end of the day I was back home, able to work on my recovered files, feeling confident that I could back up my work and be protected against computer viruses. Thanks very much. Now I know why they call you, “Dr. Dan”.

Finally, Computer Stuff for the Financially Challenged! “Ubuntu” user-friendly Linux ROCKS!
After investigating software packages for adobe and corel, I realized there was no way our camp could afford the thousands of bucks …to get cool programs. My old laptop did crash in the middle of creating the 2009 ‘Whispering Pines’ Summer Camp Brochure. (Yes, I’m ashamed to admit, I was using ‘Paint’ to design with!) My laptop, it turned out was not even sound enough to repair…we purchased our refurbished HP Pavillion dv9000 with Linux (as the operating sytem) on it.

…..Well, providence paid off, because in the end I got more than I could ask for. (with Linux as an O/S), I downloaded all the software I needed. ….It took all of 2 minutes to download programs just like; “Pagemaker, Corel Draw and Adobe Photoshop”, (they have funky little names like “Scribus, GIMP, and F-Spot PhotoManager”). Tutorials are all over the internet …. all the software I needed….freely available, with no restrictions on use and no requirement to purchase subscriptions, AND Virus Free! — FREE, people!

Linux makes me look good!…It took me one week to create the brochure-content and graphics included in this year’s poster.
